On the third and last day of testing in Jerez, QMMF Racing Team riders Mishal Al Naimi and Ricard Cardús made significant progress in the adaptation to their new Moriwaki prototypes and managed to improve their lap times by almost a second.

In the qualification list, both riders still weren’t where they would like to be, but their confidence for the season-opening race in Qatar, the home Grand Prix of Mishal Al Naimi, was much higher than their current position in the hard-fought Moto2 category.

“Our aim at the first race in Qatar is to deliver excitement. QMMF and the people in Doha are extremely proud to have their own team in Grand Prix racing. At the same time, they all understand the challenges ahead and that it’s much too early to talk about wins and podium finishes”, said team manager Luis Solano. “But they know that we are there to fight. And we will put up a fight no matter what. We completed an extensive testing session at Qatar, our riders know the track, and maybe we will able to surprise – if we could break into the top 25, we would all be very happy!”

“We improved in comparison to yesterday which is good. We tried many things on the bike and finally we found the right direction to go. This test was very useful to understand which kind of work needs to be done and in which way to attack the first races. For now, lap times and positions were not too important at all. We know that we are going to improve and that we will work our way towards the front slowly but surely. We did many laps in Qatar and we know the track. When it counts in two weeks, we will grit our teeth and fight as hard as possible!”
