No points and no good front-end feeling for Barbera at Indy
British chassis manufacturer FTR enjoyed a positive return to MotoGP World Championship action following the summer break at the Indianapolis Grand Prix, with three riders finishing inside the top fifteen to claim valuable points.
After starting as the top CRT from twelfth place on the grid Colin Edwards (Forward Racing) almost repeated the result but narrowly missed out to Aleix Espargaro by just three seconds at the end of a gruelling 27 lap race in 27ºC temperatures.
Edwards was followed over the line by his team-mate on the FTR Kawasaki, Claudio Corti coming in six seconds behind the Texan in fourteenth, whilst Hiroshi Aoyama (Avintia Blusens) overcame his team-mate Hector Barbera to seal the final available point in fifteenth.
Hector Barbera (16th in MotoGP): “It has been a difficult and complicated race and we have struggled with the front-end problems we had in practice sessions. We have done a lot of tests and even before the start of the race we have thought about making some changes. The reality is that I have never managed to ride comfortably and things have not changed in the race. I am a little disappointed because I was the first CRT in the last race and I did not expect this result. Fortunately, next weekend we have another GP and we have another opportunity at a circuit I like.”
