One week on from his victory in Germany, Augusto Fernandez took glory again with a fantastic display in the Dutch GP. Starting from the third row, he climbed the order to claim his third win of the season and move joint top of the overall standings.

Augusto had qualified ninth for the contest at Assen, but showed great confidence and a good feeling from the start, putting in an impressive pace. The Spaniard was up into third place after eleven laps, before attacking for the lead and attempting to break away in the final stages. He eventually crossed the finish line just over half a second ahead of his nearest rival.

The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 rider is now level with the series leader on 146 points, going into the summer break. The next race for the Moto2 World Championship will be the British GP, held from August 4-7th at Silverstone.

#37 AUGUSTO FERNANDEZ
“It was a different race to what we are used to, with a group and a lot of overtaking. I had a great time. It was difficult to manage the race, because we all had a very similar pace. I waited for my moment, trying to understand everybody’s pace. When I took the lead, I concentrated on not making mistakes, I managed to get a few metres ahead – enough to get the victory. I’m very happy. Thanks to the team for the great work they have done this weekend.”
