Darryn Binder takes solid seventh in the #IndianGP

The LIQUI MOLY Husqvarna Intact GP Moto2 team leaves the first Indian Grand Prix with a successful race result from Darryn Binder, who finished the heat battle in seventh place.

It was undoubtedly a successful comeback for Darryn, as the South African earned an important fifth place on the grid in qualifying, from which he made two good starts on Sunday afternoon In the first corner, there was a mass crash, which resulted in the race being red-flagged due to the five riders involved.

A short time later, the South African experienced the thrill of the start a second time, and there too the 25-year-old managed to stay out of the rumble. Twelve more laps had to be completed in sweaty conditions on the demanding 5.01 km track. Darryn was constantly in seventh position, where he eventually finished, earning him nine valuable World Championship points.

In just one week’s time, from 29.09. – 01.10.2023, the 14th Grand Prix of the year is on the agenda in Japan.

“It is so good to be back racing again. Today’s start within the front two rows made such a big difference. I managed to stay out of trouble in the first couple of corners and laps. I really wanted a little bit more. I had some fast guys passing me that I wanted to follow but I just didn’t have the laps under my belt right now and I needed to just stay with them, find my routine, and gain a bit more feeling. Overall, I am super happy with how the weekend went. This was a great start to this Asian tour. I am looking forward to the next round in Japan.”
